GP Performance Statistics

I have read many articles on the GP both in the lead up to purchasing the car and since. It has certainly lived up to the hype, and I try and find extra reasons to drive places

The figures I have read for the car's performance have varied. I have seen 6.2, <6.5 and 6.5 for both 0-60 mph and 0-62 mph. I have also seen the 50-75 mph acceleration in 4th gear as 5.3 seconds.

Often however, it is found that a car will slightly exceed the quoted performance. Have any of you fellow GP owners accurately measured the 0-60 mph/0-62 mph and/or 50-75 mph times? What about 1/4 mile times? I know there is equipment you can purchase for this purpose (which I don't own) and I haven't bothered with the rather inaccurate 'mate with a phone' method.

Have you modded your GP? I thought it may be interesting if others are thinking of tweaking their GP's to see what effect these mods may have on the performance.

I know there is a thread knocking around for accurately measured 0-60 mph times, but I thought a GP specific thread would be beneficial. Also I don't think the thread I mentioned includes the 50-75 mph acceleration.

Finally.... I recently watched a video on YouTube of a race driver taking a Corsa VXR around the 'Ring which set a record for 'superminis'. The lap time was 8 mins 48.99 seconds. I can only find one reference to the GP around the 'Ring in what seemed like a quite indepth article, which quoted a time of 8 mins 41.55 seconds. I haven't been able to verify this time though. Have any of you taken your GP to the 'Ring? How did it go?

I certainly haven't taken my GP round the 'Ring' as i don't have enough pairs of underwear to last the circuit!!!

Not formally measured my GPs acceleration times but i can safely say it feels every bit as quick as my Focus ST prior to me tuning it. The Focus ST has a 0-60 time of 6.5 and the GP seems very similar.

I was quite surprised to read some of the in gear time comparisons between the GP and the new Mini JCW. Very similar!! I must admit....when i test drove a new JCW it did seem a lot more responsive on the move which i guess is expected with that turbo. Different behaviour. However, as i'm sure all GP owners would agree...if you place the GP in the right gear it certainly motors.

As mentioned, i tuned my ST but haven't felt the urge to tune the GP. I guess as it's such a special car...i'm scared to change it too much. If anyone knows of a nice tweak that is very subtle i would certainly be up for it. As far as changing the exhaust to a Milltek or remapping....i think that would be a slight injustice to all the work and effort that went into making the GP.

My personal opinion with the Mini is that if someone wanted to put on a Lohen, GTT, BBR or Hartge tuning kit on....then i would think it would be better to buy a standard MCS and tune it. Only my opinion.

I had my Focus ST tuned at Morego in Brackley and Neil is a top guy. I may ask him in the future about any mods he could recommend. Morego are very much into preserving the essence of a car and just simply making it better rather than making it different. They do an ST350 conversion which is fantastic and yet...if you drive at normal speeds...is just like the standard ST. Ok...the £10K additional price is a tad high but every part has been specifically engineered for that car. I'm sure they could do something special for the GP!!!

Smile quickest gp

you need to ask -G- what he has done to his GP, All i know is i had it for the day on thurdday and it was ridiculously quick.

and found a invoice in the glove box for lohen for £3500.

if you look under the bonnet it looks nothing like a standard engine with a grs chargecooler, alta induction kit, front mounted intercooler, alta oil catch.

all i know is it sounds awesome and goes like stink and kept up with a continental gt on the motorway slip road.
