Gp question

Been on autotrader looking at GP minis so got some quick questions for Gp owners to answer please.

1....fuel consumption says 32.8
2... reg date ,are all Gps september 06.
3..is there anything i should be looking out for when looking at them.(faults etc)
4...does this ring a bell with any mini2 members (33 FM)

Welcome to Scotthall Leeds authorised MINI dealership

Neil.

Thats a good price for that one

1) PMSL Lets just say that it all depends on how you drive it, it gives me better MPG than the old MCSC JCW I had, and can average around 28mpg for me if driving normally, but if driving more country lanes then its more like 21mpg
2) yes all Sept 06
3) Exhaust hangers, sticky glue stuff out of the door trim, not much else though its been the least trouble out of all my MINI's
4) Nope, but if you get the roof number you could check it off against the list on here

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Thanks martin, I was looking at a new R56 but the Gp looks so much better.

Will it run ok on standard unleaded or is it a optimax car only .

Hi,

Actually....not all GPs were registered in Sept 06. Mine is July 06 and thus an 06 reg rather than the 56 reg.

I currently have mine advertised on Autotrader as i'm simply not using it that much.

Average consumption for me is around 28-29 mpg.

The GP has a slightly smaller battery than the other Minis and thus if it's not run at least once a week for a good 30-60 mins....owners can observe problems with low battery's. It's not a fault just something to be aware of. I don't drive mine that much so use a battery conditioner to ensure that the charge remains acceptable.

It wasn't something i was aware of when i bought mine but you should keep in mind if you plan on leaving the car sitting for weeks at a time.

Hope that helps.

I only put Optimax in mine, as all the JCW's should only be run on this

You are right though, its a far better MINI to buy than the R56, it will hold its value more, its more fun, and turns more heads

Oh and I do the same route to work each day, alternating between our R56 MCS and the GP, and there really isn't that much in it when you compare the MPG, well not the way I drive

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

I thought his point on the 06/56 was good as well. Mine was registered August 06 as I couldn't wait a month. Think many were the same.

Mines a July 06, and hence registered as an 06 and on an 06 plate. Wanted that all to correspond, how sad, lol.

As said GP battery is smaller than other cooper S's too. So drains sooner as I found out to my peril, had to get mini emergency guy out. I put a trickle charger on ours every so many weeks now.

Also note GP specific parts are twice the price of stock Cooper S parts, ie bumpers, wheels etc if you ever were unlucky enough to need parts.

And I would run it on super unleaded, but runs perfectly fine on normal unleaded. My S seems to run better on super never mind the GP.

Goo running out of doors tho this has stopped after I used some degreaser. And the chrome on filler cap pitting badly, and wing mirrors that vibrate at speed. Make sure the orange blocks for jacking it up are in the boot.

My GP wasn't driven for 8 months but started first time. Might be a fault with your battery if it needs to be driven for 30-60 mins to keep it charged

could well be but I doubt most cars would start perfectly after being left idle for 8 months!

2 weeks of no use and it spun up first time. Drove to Henley on Thames after giving Jaws II a quick wash to pose among the Morgan and Porsche community

That I seriously doubt, five weeks and most cars would be flat.

Could be true, if the eight months were all cold weather. Unlikely though. I stored my GP for around ten weeks in Vegas during the fall 2007 and needed a jump to start it.

18's, normally with runflats, but you can bin those if it does have them, mine isn't on them, and it came from the dealer like that

the only other thing is the 'lightweight' paint!
Bmw were a bit mean on the coats of paint applied to this car and as a result you can get the paint flaking around the front sidelights.- my dealer resprayed this free of charge.
(i think mine didn't have any undercoat personally)
hope that helps!

Was kept in storage while i was in australia and not touched at all. I'm sure that most cars batteries wouldn't last that long. But GP don't have an alarm so nothing to drain the batt.

a problem you might have is crackled paint under the grill (the lower part at the front of the car) - mire like flaking paint - and make sure that if you buy one the tyre tread is pretty much full tread... its roughly £160 a tyre to replace (dunlops) - ive just had a few probs, try to buy from a local dealer aswell..

Hope this helps (other Gp owners can explain more about those probs) I opened a thread about the problems ive had

Luckily all sorted now!!!
