I ordered a 2009 JCW, tentatively slated for week 32 production. In reading the forums, I came across owners asking about JCW certificates. Should my vendor give this to me automatically, or do I have to request it prior to production and delivery? Your comments appreciated.

The 2009 Works is a distinct model. With the exception of the GP, this was not the case with the 1st Generation where it was a Cooper S model with a JCW Engine Tuning Kit. The Vehicle Code portion of the VIN bears this out:

MF9 = 2nd Gen Cooper Works
MF7 = 2nd Gen Cooper S
RE3 = 1st Gen Cooper S (with or without JCW Package)
 

The JCW Engine Tuning Kits for the 1st Gen were all numbered and the certificate was for "documenting" the Kit.

Are the 2nd Gen JCW Stage 1 Kits numbered and do they come with a certificate?

I would have thought too that it would show on the registration papers that the car is a MINI COOPER JCW , rather than just an S ??
