Offline | Is it just me or should the GP not be left as it is? I understand why you want to mod the car as you have the best platform from which to work but the GP is a limited edition and special car if you want to mod a car why not start with a normal S or even a JCW S? Maybe Im just jealous - I want a GP... ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | I owned a GP previously and resisted doing anything to it. It is a collectors car and i think people who want one will want an original. All i did to mine, which i thought was a must, was to fit the JCW steering wheel. I eventually sold it to save some money and bought a JCW. Now can't stop modding the damn thing with aero kits here, carbon fibre spoilers here. So much for saving money!!! Arrrrggghhhh. |

| New Mini Specialists | Hi Everyone, (Been resisting posting on this thread for quite some time).... Here is our somewhat biased view. If you are going to buy a JCW MINI and pay a premium for all the JCW branded parts and heritage & whatever else you think you are paying for..... Then it would be a shame to replace those parts with aftermarket ones (ie. why buy them in the first place). So our approach would be as such: IMPROVE THE THINGS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN TOUCHED BY JCW And there are still plenty... Manifold, TB, Intercooler, cam, braces, Suspension parts, brakes & so on. If you stick to the things that are easy to reverse to standard, then you can enjoy the benefits of the improved parts & still have the car that can be easily returned to standard. However if you are adamant that you want to REALLY modify your JCW, then you can do as many things as wish & spend as much money as you please, at the end of the day it is your car & no one should make the decision for you... So now go tuning. ![]() Andrey |

Offline | Its a car, not something i bought as an investment. I love it and i think have added things to it which enhance my driving pleasure. All will be able to restored to standard should i wish to do that, obviously at a cost. Drive a standard one then drive mine, i know which you will enjoy driving more..... And unless you know what you are looking for mine looks pretty standard too! |

Offline | EXACTLY!! I bought and modified mine for me not anyone else, if you buy a car as an "investment" you are not a true petrolhead... ....but... on a GP it should be returned standard when selling it due to the nature of the car. If I'm ever forced to sell mine (god forbid) it will be offered up to forum members who want all the good stuff already done (at a premium of course) first and if no one is interested returned to standard. Whatever happens I would be carrying out a full engine health check to ensure the next owner gets it as it should be ![]() |

| Supercharger Noiseaholic | I'd go for a 17% pulley, GRS intercooler, Janspeed manifold + cat and some NGK plugs. 19% is horrendous for heat and TBH even the 17% is a bit hot around 6k-7k rpm. Because the GP has a lot of work, you would probably see some decent gains from switching the 11% JCW pulley for an Alta 15% pulley. Do remember though that any pulley smaller than 11% will spin the supercharger past the maximum limit Eaton say the supercharger should do. |

| MINI2 Newbie | Because it is a GP I have hard time modding GP, so far just ITG filter, Hawk HPS Plus pads, HSport rear swaybar, JCW strut bar, and RMW tune. If I were to mod out the GP it would be the JCM 225 or 235hp kit, just to keep it real to its John Cooper heritage or roots if that makes sense. And then if the the mod bug was still present I'd buy an extra head and cams from RMW for insane wheel horsepower. Last edited by howsoonisnow1985 : Sep 10th, 2008 at 05:22 AM. |
