Offline | Well at long last my JCW Works S has arrived. Having placed and order back in mid 2001, I've waited patiently for 18 Months (got to be some sort of record!), and now I'm lucky enough to have the first customer car. What can I say about it ? It lives up to and exceeds everything I had hoped, the acceleration and pulling power in gear are awesome, I've had quite a bit of fun scaring the odd Scooby that takes it for a standard S :-). I've also scared myself once or twice. The day to day driveability is superb, the car is very happy to plod round town and take it easy and then complete transforms when you give it a little right foot on a nice B road. Having driven the One, Cooper, JCW Cooper, Cooper S and now the JCW Cooper S, the best way to to define the car is; imagine the step up from the One/Cooper to the Cooper S, that's the sort of step up you are going to from the S to the JCW cooper S. Well enough chat, I've got to get back to running my new car in :-) here are some pictures and another Cheers Michael JCW Works S, DS/DS, Chilli, DSC, HAB, HK, panther black/lapis blue (Cloth) S0007 |

Offline | It has to be a good feeling to be one of, if not the first to have such a controversial, but highly sought after modification. Congrats! Keep us informed as you enjoy yourself. BTW, how much did the conversion cost you in comparison to purchasing a normal Cooper S? J Digi-Tec MCS Gone Life without a supercharger is boring |

Offline | Maybe controversial is not the precise word I should have used, but if you read through the "ton" of posts on this site-you will notice there is much discussion and speculation regarding the kits, cost, warranty and performance. All I know is--I'm excited about it. Digi-Tec MCS Gone Life without a supercharger is boring |

Offline | Did you see a Black and White one with black mirrors? Mines dues in a couple of weeks time, please keep sending in reports. As an aside, who did you insure yours with and how did they view/classify it? I'm about to accept a Footman James proposal where the JCW part is simply a power modification. |

Offline | Hi ffc, I didn't see a black and white one, although there was an all black one there that did look very nice. All the cars in the above photos are MINI JCW S press cars, I'm sure the press will have a scream when they get hold of them Insurance wise, I went with Direct Line. The car is down as a Cooper S with Chilli and Works Package. My main thing was that I wanted the insurance documentation to show that it was a "JCW Mini Cooper S Works". Any thoughts on the 18in JCW wheels ? I'm very tempted, but I guess it jsut depends on price and ride quality Cheers Michael JCW Works S, DS/DS, Chilli, DSC, HAB, HK, panther black/lapis blue (Cloth) S0007 |

Offline | I think 18"rims will have adverse effects on both handling and ride comfort, I'd rather have the JC seats (Spargo's??) Also noticed that the press cars all had 16" fitted BTW congrats Michael, guess your patience finally paid off How does the car sound, is it very loud, does it have a deep bassy sound or more like a metallic sound? Is your car new, meaning do you still need to run it in? Questions, questions... Have fun and enjoy your car! |
