Offline | Just test driven MCS Works Evening all, Ive just test driven a MCS with the works kit fitted. Whas the general opinion with them, is it better to have it fitted from brand new or should I run in the "basic" S first. For anyone who hasnt had a go in the works you should its ace. |

Offline | You'll get different answers with this - some recon it's better to run a stock S and see if you "need" the works (or other) engine mod, others (like me) bought their car with it fitted before delivery. The good news is at least you are in the right part of the world to get a works kit fitted by John Cooper Garages which I think makes the kit v. special. And takes away worries about how well the local BMW dealership can fit them. And is usually cheaper. Good luck whatever you decide to do! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | The one I drove only had 500 miles on the clock, so was nowhere near run in. The acceleration was really impressive, as was the engine sound. The only thing stopping me is it brings the price of my brand new car up to 21,000 pounds which is a lot of money in my book. |

Offline | About 120 for me - they guys ended up driving my car up to deliver it as the bloke who drives the trailer was off sick Would have liked to pick it up from the Works site - a great place with a lot of history ![]() ![]() |

Offline | That was pretty much my impression too. I got to drive one built by the local dealer...it had only about 700kms on it and although I couldn't bring myself to give it too much stick (cos it hadn't been run-in) you could tell that its performance is very impressive. The difference is a bit like driving an S after driving a Cooper. Only $8000 CAN between me and my WorksMCS!! |

Offline | Ive given myself a bit of a headache, Ive ordered a brand new S but having driven the works I want one. As you say the only problem is £3500. Any one want to buy a kidney or something? |

Offline | I would change the SC pulley. This may not have the top end of the JCW kit but the torque range is excellent. I run high test and have 12,000 miles with no other mods. (20 k on the car.) The WOT engine noises are higher than with the works. For regular sport dring it is almost as fast. This is a great cheap thrill. Ess |

Offline | I just coudn't take it so I had the JCW fitted prior to delivery. I drove a MCS then ordered one and the works at the same time. I must say that the JCW puts a smile on my face every day. Its an expensive thrill but hey you only live once.... |

Offline | [quote=cityclinic]We fitted the JCW after twelve months and about 20,000 k's. After fitting it was like picking up a new car ... now it attracts even more attention .. not that I'm complaining .Im thinking I might go down that line myself, have 12 months running it as standard then maybe get the conversion then. Nice photo by the way. |

Offline | Jcg I'm off to JCG next Monday and intend on asking for my old bits back, so I'll let you all know the outcome. Can't wait, it's almost as bad as the 5 month for the MCS in the first place and it's only been a week ![]() |
