Works convertible?

Appologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but has anyone ordered a convertible with a JCW kit fitted?
I was on the list for a convertible for my wife but a change in job meant she needed a car quickly so we got her a tin top Cooper instead.
Having been to the motorshow she is desperately trying to persuade me to swap my JCW S for a S convertible.

To cut a long story short my question is: Is a JCW convertible worthwhile? All responses greatly appreciated.

I was contemplating the same but I not sure it’s worth spending that much on a Mini. A Convertible with a few toys+chilli pack is in the region of £23K, add the Works Kit and you're talking nearer £27K

Ive got a spec at about £25k.....£21k for the car plus aero sides, driving lights and the JCW.
That is why I asked the question really...I wonder how many JCW convertibles there will be and if there would be much of a market for a used one.

Even £25K is a lot for a Mini IMO - the more you speed on them the more you stand to lose resale. Don't get me wrong I'd love a JCW Convertible but once you hit £25K so many other cars come into play. A VX220 Turbo for one, 0-60 in 4.7 secs

If I got an S Convertible, and I still may, I'm ditching the Works Kit. I'm just waiting to drive one first to see if I like it. I also want to wait for them to build a few first to iron out any niggles.

To replace my current JCW spec for spec would now cost £25k....

Washy dont forget theres a more powerful Cooper Works kit due out soon and I bet it wont be long after the Cabrio S launch in July/August.

Mind you the with the Cabrio S having 7 extra bhp plus the works kit now would make it in theory more powerful than the one you have now.

I'm still not sure though. No one else seems keen on the JCW rout for the cabrio.

my dealer has told me that they cannot order a works kit for a cabrio S (another customer wants one), more bizarrely they can order a works kit for a hatch s withe the same 170bhp engine. I don't think you can assume a works kit on a 170bhp engine will take the output past 197bhp, which makes it poor value-i assume JCW have had their hands on a 170bhp engine but have been strangely vague about the increase in power.
the indication seems to be the new works kit will be anounced august/september so i think i can live with "only" 170bhp until then before making my mind up -and an oil cahnge after 3 months can only be a good thing

If I do go for it I may well take the car in std S form to start....I think I would like JCG to do the conversion this time anyway....

Hi washy,

I've ordered a Cooper S cabriolet with the intention of having the JCW kit fitted once its run in - so have no fear, you won't be alone.
