Did anyone ask Mike "The man" Cooper about dates for exporting the works kits to other MINI world markets.

Like, umm, Australia for instance ?

Does sound like the Cooper S one is quite a long way away though. 200+ reliable BHP, sounds VERY attractive, though a little pricey.

From the news item....

Mike also gave us some 'inside information' on the teams plans for the MINI Cooper S. First of all, for all our racing fans, next year we will be seeing the Cooper S on the track. Secondly, further to producing just over 200bhp, we can expect 0-60 times of around 6.2 seconds or less, and a top speed around 145mph from the forth coming MINI Cooper S Works, which has still to undergo intense endurance, hot and cold weather testing before being released, probably some time in September 2002 for around £3,000 to £3,500 on top of the Cooper S list price.

It must have been bad for you to miss that

I take it that this modification would void any Mini warranty you might have?

When I talked to my dealer recently to discuss my disappointment with finding out from mini2 about the delays in mini production (after having ordered mine), he happened to mention that the cooper works s might be out by the time they start producing a car with all the specs I asked for. Since I'd never even discussed a works car with them, I thought that was pretty interesting. Actually, now I'm almost hoping mine won't be produced until the Works S is available.

Tom

I use Keeler of Latham, NY as a dealer

2002 Mini Cooper S (Maybe not til late fall due to some options not yet in manufacture, although I was almost at the top of the list for an S at my Latham, NY dealer): British Racing Green / White with Stripes / All Packages / Leather / HK audio

Do the conversions still void TLC?

Even if BMW carry out the conversion? Or can't they.... I thought the works kit could be sold in its component pieces...

The works kit is only available as a whole kit (at the moment) and it will invalidate TLC but not the warranty.

Thats what Mike Cooper told me.

the MINI has gone...

went to my dealer yesterday and asked about the Coooper S waiting list, and I was told that if i ordered now i'd have it August/September. find this hard to believe that it can be that short....

or is my dealer just trying to get my money??

so far i still dont know the starting price of a Cooper S, and if anyone has an idea how much a FULLY speced Cooper S Works would cost, i'd be very happy.

Cheers
Lee

You could probably get a Cooper S this August but you wouldn't get a Works. A fully specced works S would be probably in the region of £25,000

the MINI has gone...
