Fitted at your dealer, the factory in Oxford doesn't fit them at all, but you could drive to JCW in East Preston, and have it fitter there, make a pilgrimage to the home of Cooper..........

My dealer charged me £3,500. Was it a London dealer that quoted you £3,995?

I think that i have gone mad, but instead of adding the Works kit to my current car, i am thinking of ordering a new one for Jan 05 with the works kit. I would of liked to get one that was fitted with the kit from the factory.
Also i have a funny feeling that there will be a special edition Works version available next year with alll the works add ons (suspension, brakes, wheels, seats, interior, engine). Its only an opinion of mine.

Not mad Fabio, you just have a bad Works bug !

That fully equipped Works car would cost a fortune though, wouldn't have too many takers I'd say.........

I take your point, but the factory just isn't geared up for a different Works engine line as such, along with the ONE, ONED, Cooper and S engines - I'd say it would be one engine too many for the production process. Remember, only 1% approx of S's are JCWd, so it probably wouldn't be cost effective production wise.........

United-Kingdom Cost of Works Kit?

Can someone please confirm if what I read above is correct, namely that it only costs around £3500 to fit the works kit when it's performed by Cooper Garages themselves. We have a DS MCS which will be replaced shortly by a HB MCS Works and I have £3900 listed on my invoice as the expected cost. If it's possible to fit this for £400-500 cheaper then why doesn't everyone do this?

The 05 kit might be slightly more expensive, but yet, £3,574.00 was the price quoted to me by Coopers themselves for the 04 kit- you do have the option to haggle your dealer down, get them to match the price.

Dealers like to make as much money as possible...........

I had mine done at my local dealers (Radfords in Stafford) at a cost of £3500 inclusive and they did a sound job plus I had the benefit of a loan car for the 2 days it took. No complaints at all but it does pay to negotiate your price. After all, they want your business.

I spoke to Cooper garages today and the cost of the fitted 210bhp kit is £3704inc. The reason for the change in price is the additional time taken to fit other new parts to the car. The install now takes 10 hours and they also like to test the car for an hour to ensure that the kit is performing as it should. The only difference between the kit fitted to a pre 05 model and the newer 05 is the remap of the ECU.

If ONLY they did interest free credit...........

It was Scothall Hampshire in Southampton. So they give me all this speil about the kit when I visited etc, then i says to them, i can drive 40 miles along the coast and get it done nearly £500 cheaper - they wouldn't/couldn't match it..... so what do you do?

When you get it done at a dealer, do you get a certificate of authenticity signed by Mike Cooper?

get in the car and drive 40 miles up the coast I would suggest. The certificate etc is exactly the same as a fitting at JC.
