Unhappy '05 MCS Works Kit Recall

Just been informed by my dealer that all current Works kit orders for the new 05 MCS have been put on hold and all current owners (05 kits only) will have their cars recalled.

Apparently some owners are having problems with the car misfiring and the ECU software is to blame.

Wish I had more details but thats all I've got at the moment...

Mine got held up during the install this past few days as the ECU software wouldn't load.
Dealer put in a new code from BMW last night and it loaded okay.
Put about 150 miles on it and it runs like a top...

Not heard anything. No misfires
Car goes well
told it doesn't need running in-so I haven't. Need some glue for the tyres-the wheels spin big time. ASC/DSC light comes on a lot
Exhaust is LOUD but less popping

My dealer informed me today. I believe dealers were only informed today, so this will probably take a while to filter through... and for actions to be taken.

The car does need running in....Didnt you get your bit of paper from the dealer stating that its had the works kit installed and checked? states there that it needs 1250 mile run in, no more than 4500 rpm...And must use 98 RON fuel....(optimax)

Got the bit of paper...
Is that not just if the kit is installed on a brand new MCS...
Bounced up to 6k rpm on the way home..
Its too much fun to run it in....

Running in

I was told that it was already run in ie I had already run it in (to 1300 miles) prior to fitting the works kit which was important for the main block rather than the cylinder head. i did take it easy for the first hundred miles or so (some new component smells from the engine) Managed to hit the rev limiter in 3rd yesterday! I've got three years of warranty left anyway! No recall yet.

E-mailed my dealer late thursday but no reply back yet. Wondering if this is why dealer in bristol told me last week they could get a kit in afew days as mini had 9 in stock but my dealer in Bath seems unable to get one yet. I hink this site probably keeps me better informed.

Ive been pestering my dealer every few days to see if the upgrade kit is available and every time i ring the kit is on hold, i called in yesterday morning and he told me the kit was now available and they would be able to fit it next Wednesday.

Yep. The kits were re-released about a week ago. The gremlins in the software were sorted out pretty quickly thankfully... So any existing orders should have now been fulfilled.

My dealer has repeatedly denied an upgrade/recall. I emailed JCW to ask them but have still not had a reply. What are "the Gremlins"?
