Offline | Do not take any notice of MAX he is obviously biased ![]() I however am not It would be one of the finest things you could do. Increased performance>increased pleasure> the whine is addictive>no warranty worries for mod> but the best reason for the wife to endorse your passion is she will have her own 3500 reasons to buy herself new outfits How many BROWNIE points is that worth ![]() |

Offline | It all boils down to the how not the why. The why is easy: CUZ IT's THERE. Once you explain the how.....things go smoothly. And it applies to the JCW or any other expenditure...... ![]() |

Offline | I found the best way was to get it done and then admit it after the event On the better half's first dirve and overtaking a lorry at 50mph in 2nd all was forgiven ![]() [ MCS Works, Eibachs, EBC Greenstuff Discs and Pads, Whalen Shift Machine, Toyo Proxes T1-R's Hold on Tight |

Offline | Its a very hard argument to win, as your wife is right. The Works kit as a simple method of making your car go faster is definatly not worth the money. Yes, you will guarantee to keep your warranty, yes, you will see some of your money back when you trade your car in, yes, there is the heritage angle. but all this, and the 210bhp that you will then have, is extremly hard to justify as being in any way worth it. If you want 210bhp, you can get it for around £800 now. If you want a badge for the car, you can buy one on ebay for around £50. If you want to retain some of the money the conversion costs long run, well rather than rely on increased future trade in price, just take a grand and put it in a savings bank instead. If you can afford and want the Works conversion for your own reasons, don't let me put you off (I have one after all) but if you think you can convince a non Mini woman that its a wise way to spend the fat side of £4k, then you have a challenge on your hands. its better to just say "shut up woman I'm the boss and I want it so what you thinks irrelevant" than to come up with a bunch of weak reasons that don't really hold up under cross examination. So, the question is, whose the boss in your house? Who wears the trousers? Who makes the decisions? I know who does in my house. My wife bought the Works conversion for me as a christmas present..... - so she does., ![]() |

![]() ///M Power | The works conversion just makes the car even better... I love it and wouldn't have considered any of the other tunners, purely because of where I live. It also worked out quite nicely because our local dealers charge less for labour and give nice discounts if you take the time to get to know them... JCW kit fitted £3k... parts sold on ebay £200... all done for £2800... can be bad at that .... I got the JCW kit for christmas.... she's been in Brown Thomas buying handbags on my Credit Card ever since!! ... just to get even I fitted the JCW Brakes today ... at the end of the day it's whatever makes you happy.... me.. I smile every time I get in it... ![]() ![]() |

| Cruising In The Minge | LOL it started with that all too common "do I look fat in this?" My reply was "no dear, you just need bigger boobs to even you out" And while you are in getting them done I'll put a JCW kit on so we are even stevens on the spending! Bit pricey going that way but I got 2 new toys to play with ![]() ![]() 2002 PS/PS JCW MC 1970 BRG/W MK2 Morris Cooper S |
