John Cooper Works air filter kit

The John Cooper Works Cone Open Air Filter Kit is now available seperately.

Just 2 days ago I went to the site and it said it was ONLY available as part of 'The Works' upgrade. I went there just now and it's available on it's own!

Are you sure?? It has always been like that AFAIK and I recall someone ordering one, later receiving a phone call saying that they would need a works conversion in order to buy one (it is an upgrade on the standard conversion which comes with replacement filter element only)

the MINI has gone...

Yes !

I've been to the Cooper garage in East Preston two weeks ago as part of my holiday in wales and they told me too the kit would be available on it's own soon.

Yeah they told us that too when we had the club tour but I was under the impression it wouldn't be for a while.

Can anyone confirm this??

Ken,
The link you sent lists the rediculously overpriced cold air kit under "Works Upgrades" Makes me think you'd need a "Works" in order to upgrade it? I guess its not entirely clear but for that price I'm not too concerned.

May be overpriced

It may be overpriced.....(not my call)

I was just posting for people interested that it's available.

I remembered reading about the fact a while back that you couldn't get it alone without the package.

Now you can.

I think for the price the pipercross is still the best deal....$159 (U.S.)

I ordered it yesterday, I don't think that its that expensive and firstly its John Cooper - the ultimate in mini tuning and secondly none of the warranty worries as it doesn't effect it and can be left on come service time!

The Pipercross can be left on during services, or at least mine was

Also i'm pretty sure the JC induction kit is a pipercross, just a little smaller.

It looks like the oil breather pipe is in a different place - what happens with the original breather pipe? And, obviously, the big hole it leaves! I'm guessing one of the club sport people would know about this!

Smiffy you should be able to as the engines are exactly the same except for the one has a more restrictive chip than the cooper keeping power down to 90bhp. Swap the chip with the standard exhaust and air filter your looking at 120bhp. Air filter and exhaust as well may be just under 130bhp.

Id be looking at around 140bhp as the chip takes it upto 135bhp ish

Not quite Smiffy the chip only releases 30bhp which from 90bhp makes 120bhp with my calculations.

It only releases 30bhp. Look at the superchips test drive in the essentials bit in the bar at the top. The superchip releases 33% extra power 33% of 90bhp is 30Bhp extra which equals 120bhp.
