Offline | Need help: Cooper S Works Owners I'll be receiving my Cooper S in about 3-4 weeks, and hopefully 7 days later, my dealer will have fitted the Works kit. I've had some past unpleasant problems with my dealer, which would take too long to explain, but the end result is that I don't trust them at all and I will definitely not got back there once they deliver the car. Due to this, my main worry is if they will install the Works kit correctly or they'll do "something" wrong just to p&$$ me off. So, how can I make sure that I have a Works Kit properly installed in my future Cooper S? * I guess I will have to check I have the Works exhaust fitted * I will check to see the "Works" logo on the engine * I will check to see if the Works logo is on the ECU, although I've heard that it's not always there. * What else can I check for? Are there any perfomance tests I should do (ie. 60-90mph)? Thanks. Regards, Andrew |

Offline | Ask to see the bits they take off ! they're yours after all. I think the ecu is just a software thingy so the stickers presence or absence dosn't mean much. i've not checked mine but I felt the difference straight away just driving around town. |

Offline | Badge on front grill and back hatch. WORKS on inter cooler along with a serial number that will match the certificate. Different / Air cleaner Box etc. Exhaust will be different from the cat back. Software will differ but good luck "seeing" it. Charger pulley will have been changed. That's all that comes to mind at the moment. Get your old parts back. First time you wind it up and nail it through the gears you'll KNOW whether or not it's all there. There's no logical reason why they would half ass this installation intentionally, it's certainly not in their best interest. You will not regret getting the package. I forgot to mention the machined head and larger injectors. I think that covers most of it. Last edited by Meeka : May 24th, 2005 at 04:38 AM. |

Offline | Thanks for the input. I really hope they don't mess it up, like you say, it wouldn't be a smart move. But in any case, I will ask for the original parts back. As to the performance, I've only driven a Cooper S once, so I don't if I will be able to tell the power difference. And as to the replacement parts, all the parts you're mentioning can be easily viewed from above, right? Just open the hood and check the parts together with the certificate you're mentioning. Is that simple? Thanks. Andrew |
