Offline | John Cooper Works Air Filter Hi all, new to Mini2 but now to Mini ownership. I am just doing the spec for my new MCS after having just sold my Liquid Yellow Mini Cooper. I have decided to add the JCW air filter to the spec as this adds 6-7 bhp, improves the torque slightly and smoothes out the response, or so i'm told. I was inteding on getting the full kit but my insurance company does not agree that this is such a good idea. Has anyone elso out there added this part??? Cheers Last edited by Captain Caveman : Aug 5th, 2005 at 09:09 PM. |

Offline | My MCS w/ JCW Intake feels a bit "slow" on the RPM windup after the intake was installed. Maybe it's the higher temps lately. Had a stock intake, and just changed out the air filter prior to the JCW Intake. As for a "louder" note over 4500RPM, I haven't really noticed any difference, I even had someone rev the engine while I made sure the flap opens. If anything, idle revs sounds louder than WOT. |

Offline | I couldn't agree more! It sounds fantastic (anyone not hearing the SC whine above 4500 RPMs should check and see if the vacuum hose is disconnected). I also added the JCW exhaust, and absolutely love the sound of them both together. I really don't think I was imagining an improvement in torque after the intake was added, but after swapping the stock pulley for an Alta 15% (very close to the JCW sized pulley) I really noticed that it all worked together wonderfully - plenty of torque and lots of beautiful noises coming from the car! 2005 MCSC |

Offline | Thanks guys, I will probably go for the JCW intake. Mini are quoting £260 to supply and fit on a new car. I would have liked to go for the JCW exhaust but apparantly they will only sell it to you if you have the full JCW conversion. You need to supply them with a valid chassis number to even order the part! It's not as if I am going to stick a badge on the back and pretend it's a Works, all I want to do is add the exhaust and filter as the full kit increases the insurance by way too much. |
