Just remember that there is a Local Clublan D owner & Cyclist loitering here to see what mods you make to your Derv workhorse!

Excellent, yeah too right, although the main reason I used to pursuade myself that I really did need a Clubman was the extra space to get my Mountain Bike in the back. Still if the bike is on the roof it leaves more room for Food and Beer in the boot for the mountain bike races lol

Lohen Clubman Gets Modded

Hi Girls & Guys,

The first stage of our Cooper D Clubman modification is complete.... This is what we have done so far:
Eibach Lowering Springs (30mm drop)
Brembo 2-piece BBK (320 x 28mm)
Team Dynamics Equinox Wheels in 17" x 7.5"
Toyo Proxes T1-R 215/40 R17
Omp strut brace
Dastek Unichip remap (+14bhp - TBC on a few more dynos)
Color coded the arches, side skits & the rear bumper
Fitted a BMW Aerodynamic kit front end bumpers with a matching "bonnet" grille (this part took months as BMW could not supply us the right parts for ages!!!!)
De-chromed the grille surround at the front
Twin bike roof rack..... (does that count as a mod???)

There are a few more things we are planning to do.... But in the mean time why don't you let us know what you think.

Just to tease you all here are some images....

Andrey

A couple of questions...

Has the 30cm drop on Eibach springs done anything for the handling? Good or bad?

Which OMP strut brace and why? Does the 'adjustable' Forge one not fit the Clubbie D?

Thanks Chris.

BTW liking what I'm seeing!

Hi Chris,

The Eibach Springs have been a nice addition. We tended to find that there was a little too much roll on the standard suspension to feel comfortable in the corners. Once we lowered the Clubman there was less roll and hence you feel far more prepared for the corners.

I can't say that the ride quality is either better or worse, it seems to be the same. I think this is a lot to do with the fact that the damping rates are much better on the Gen2 cars & hence they are not crashy or bouncy from the factory anyway. However we will still be looking at fitting Koni FSD dampers when they become available later on in the year. (I do have to restrain myself from fitting coilovers to it )

We opted for an aluminium OMP brace (see attached image) as it looks more solid than the Forge adjustable brace & luckily for us it cleared the top of the diesel engine. The adjustable Forge does fit, but we just put it onto the Cooper S instead....

Oh for those who wonder what it looks like with a bike on I have added another image

Andrey

Looking good. The big question, how much? Especially the Bike Rack, Wheels and Remap.

Love the Birches Valley shot, it looks so right having a bike on the roof!

Thank you! The roof rack with bike rack is BMW, will probably set you back in excess of £200. But it's that kind of car that can tolerate things like a bike rack and look 'right', if you know what I mean.

The wheels are Team Dynamics Equinox in matt black – 17” x 7.5”, around £160 each although we're still confirming that price. The remap is around the £500 mark, again to be confirmed.

We got an extra 14bhp out of the Clubman, going from 92 to 106.5bhp - you can definitely feel the difference and still retaining it's fuel economy of around 50mpg, even with Andrey's heavy right foot!

Emma

Thanks Emma.

Your right about the bike rack, it sort of makes it look even cooler, i'd imagine a surf board on the roof would have the same effect!!

Thanks for the prices, I think black wheels on my Yellow Clubman would look great, I will keep my eyes peeled on your site for prices.

50mpg is good for Andrey, I've never seen your Clubman on the road yet, I guess you don't hear it coming like your other MINI's!!

It's time to take the Clubman's roof rack off to feature in some promotional photos for various upcoming bits and bobs... just a few test shots from today.

Yellow/Black OneD, it's funny you saw us in the Polar Bear on our way to Derby as ordinarily Andrey and I would have been in the Clubman. I believe she was being remapped, hence not being with us.

And yes, black wheels do look fantastic but then variety, as they say, is the spice of life. Depends on your individual preference... we used a Cooper S with white wheels in our advert in Performance car last month, and it looks a stunning combination!

Yeah, would have been good if you were in the Clubby, although not after it was re-mapped, you would have left me behind!!!!

I go mountain biking at Cannock a lot so will keep an eye out for it there as well!!!
