Lohen attends Germantrack's first track day at Snetterton
When you're stepping into the arena with gladiatorial motoring giants like BMW, Audi and Porsche, you might expect just a moment of doubt, but not so from Lohen. Our Gen 2 Cooper S took to the tarmac at Snetterton as part of Germantrack’s first organised outing and we had one hell of a day pushing our limits!



Lohen opted to give what is affectionately known as the Polar Bear a blast around the track, and wanted a chance to see what the car is really made of. It performed admirably. Germantrack had invited various motoring heavyweights and were operating on an open pit lane to enable free-flowing driving. The circuit at Snetterton allowed Lohen to safely assess the capabilities of the car, and determine areas for potential improvement.

In between laps, we were delighted to spend some time with Modern MINI Magazine. Hot on the heels of our Best Independent Specialist win, MM asked us about the Gen 2 and had even booked a slot at lunch time to photograph the car on the track: look out for this feature in their magazine soon!

Featured Car: Nick Davenport, Gen2 Cooper S


It’s often said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, this month Lohen had the pleasure of helping one customer turn his standard Gen 2 Cooper S into an almost exact replica of our Gen 2 show car.

Nick Davenport, a Senior Partner at Turner Parkinson, chose a MINI as his company vehicle. However, he wanted to improve on the original specification and remarked: “ All production cars are a compromise – I wanted to remove an element of the compromise that existed to make the car more focused as a driver experience. One of my partners at Turner Parkinson knew of Lohen and we both looked you up on the internet and liked what we saw.”

After taking a trip to our Eccleshall premises, Nick was able to test drive the Polar Bear and knew it was the right route for him. He said: “I was very impressed by the show car – it felt much more focused than the standard car and performed well. It was then a matter of seeing what you could do to my Gen 2 Cooper S.”

He opted for a Milltek Downpipe & High-flow Cat, a Milltek Cat-back Exhaust and Forge Blow Off Adapter. The suspension has been uprated to KW Variant 1 Coilovers and is complimented by 17” Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels in gloss black and a set of Toyo Proxes T1-R tyres. There’s also an Alta Air Intake Kit in the pipeline.

So, has it all been worth it? Nick definitely thinks so: he's very satisfied with the car. His final verdict: “Great fun to drive and quite a head turner.” All that’s left to do is wait for the next goodies to come in to continue the project!

One of the simplest and best ways to initially improve handling is by dropping the centre of gravity of the car.
