Offline | Gauging interest: Suspension and Koni FSDs Following on from the extremely successful Group Buy Lohen came up with for the Milltek exhausts, I am really pleased to announce that they would be interested in doing another GB, this time for:
for Gen 1, Gen 2 and the Clubman. Price will be determined by the level of interest, so please register your interest in the poll. If you could also post which bit(s) you're interested in, that will make things a bit easier when it comes to getting prices. Thanks! Carolyn Last edited by nylo : Jun 11th, 2008 at 01:18 PM. Offline | I'm a sucker for a bargain Definately interested in Eibach Anti-roll bars depending upon price. Can anyone confirm these are suitable for a Mini One which doesn't have sports suspension? Also, can Koni FSD's be used with Eibach lowering springs? |

Offline | If your doing anti roll bars it would be wise to do the bushes, especially on the front to stop shaking through the steering wheel. I was interested in K&W Variant 1 or 2 coilovers, would you mind getting a price on them? ![]() |

Offline | I'd still be interested in at least a rear anti-roll bar. The mini one doesn't have any, unlike a cooper. Even with the 40mm eibach springs, mine wallows like a hippo in a heatwave. Oh yeah, and for trying to start up another group-buy, I vote Nylo for prime minister ![]() |

Offline | Hi, They are suitable, but whether they would fit is a more important question. MINI One's without sports suspension don't tend to have the rear anti-roll bar, which means they won't have any brackets or fixings for them. If your car doesn't have one (rear anti-roll bar that is) then you will need to change your rear cross member/beam to the one that has the fixings and get the drop links as well. Although the rear beams are readily available, they are quite a process to fit & will double the cost of fitting of the rear anti-roll bars. We know because we have had to do it on our MINI One. This is a misconception, anti-roll bars can be done on a car with any amount of power & it depends more on how hard you drive (corner) compared to how powerful your car is. They work by reducing/limiting body roll during cornering, & they do absolutely nothing during straight line driving, here is how it works: As you go through a corner, the car wants to lean/roll in the opposite direction to where you are going (ie. if you are going left the car will roll right). At this moment the outside damper (opposite side to which you are cornering, so in this case right) will compress and the inside damper (left) will expand/droop. This causes one damper (the right one) to push down on the anti-roll bar, & the other (left) to pull up on it. The anti-roll bar then twists & tries to resist these forces. The strength of the anti-roll bar (all other things being equal) depends on its thickness, the thicker it is the more it will resist the roll forces. This will keep the car flatter during cornering..... But whats the benefit???? More stable and predictable handling Better & more grip during cornering Ability to carry more speed through a corner Quicker change of direction (ie. in a chicane) No decrease in ride quality/comfort in a straight line (dual carriage way/motorway) All in all a pretty good modification in all areas of driving. ![]() Not necessarily and somewhat depends on the condition of your current ones & what your long term goals are. The ONLY thing that we tend to make people consider when fitting a set of anti roll bars, is whether they want the front wishbone rear bush. This one: Lohen.co.uk - Track & Fast Road Performance for your New Mini - Online Shop If you are thinking about doing these bushes in the near future, then it makes sense to do them at the same time as the front anti-roll bar. They are attached by the same bolts (which are extremely hard to get at & hence the long fitting time) & hence doing them together saves on a lot of labour Andrey |
