How to adjust standard headlights...

Hi all,

I have a new MY2006 One and have found the dipped beam headlights a little low - even with the levelling switch at 0. This was highlighted when giving a few friends a lift (i.e. heavy in the back) and the dipped beams were much better as the nose was pointing up a little. Is there a way to adjust them up a bit so that I can see at night wihtout having to book a dealer visit? I don't need to know how to aim them - just if there is a way to adjust them manually?

Cheers - Rich

Hi,

The problem is that even with the dial set to 0 (the most up they can be) the lights are still too low. I need a way to mechanically raise the level a little.

Presently we're all hopes.
Now we just need someone with the answer.

Pull the rubber cover off the back of the light and have a look for a screw adjuster sticking out. Not sure if its different on the 05 model though...could well be. Normally its quite easy to do...but then if its wrong go into the dealers and ask them to sort it out.

Was in town today so gave the dealer a quick call. They said no probs and I popped down later on. They did it in 20 mins whilst I waited. They said they were a little low but not a lot...will see this evening. Might need to know how to do it manually if it is still too low.

Haha, get a pair of spots installed and it won't matter that your regular lights are low

Just kidding - I totally know what you mean and am enjoying this thread.
