DIY cambelt Change???

Hi there,

My wife runs a Mini One which has now covered 84k miles. Does anyone know when the cambelt is due to be changed???

Does anyone else on this forum run a high mileage Mini? if so how has it performed reliability wise?

Ours has been fantastic (touching wood!).

Cheers,
Stevie.

Most timing chains ( not belts ) have a maintenance interval around 100K.

minis have timing chains not belts
and they are usually only replaced if the engine is rebuilt or if the chain is noisy which usually indicates a stuffed chain tensioner

but it has nothing to do with normal maintanence
it is an engine out job

Thanks guys (or grirls).

I made the assumption that the new Mini's had belts and not chains. Phew. Engine is as sweet as a nut, so will leave well alone for now.

Thanks again,
Stevie.

Stevie,
Just out of interest what kind of money is it costing you for servicing on the MINI?

And any big cost issues so far apart from the usual tyres, brake pads, etc?

Thanks
GM.
