Dipstick on the headlight washer bottle?

I was wondering... why is it that the headlight washer bottle has it's own dipstick but the windshield washer bottle just has a plain cap?

Well, I was wondering.

Well, I was wondering.

I struggle to see the point of including a dip stick in this case. Isn't it just as easy to top the bottle up to the top, as it is to check how far down the level is first?

Well, since there are two hungry washer bottles (completely hidden) and you probably only have a limited amount of washer fluid, perhaps the idea is to help your make an informed choice as to where to pour the fluid first?

Probably because the headlight washer-bottle, coming as a later option, had a bit more thought and feedback put into it!

Dipstick, or float?
I can see the point of a float with an indicator stick in it, but a dipstick - How does that work with water then? (Or do you have particularly colourful and sticky water in the US!).

Hmmm. Bruce - You sure it's not that funny long one marked "Oil"

No, it's not the amber-colored oil dipstick trying to show the level of amber colored oil!

I don't think anyone in the US puts water in the washer fluid containers. Almost universally, the alcohol-based blue tinted washer fluid is used. It's cheap at about $1 per gallon. It doesn't freeze in the winter, seems to clear bugs better in the summer, and evaporates quicker on the glass than plain water.
