Outdoor Car Cover

I'm thinking about getting a car cover for my MCS.

Winters coming and my little mini stay out all night, all alone

This will save me from scrapping the ice and snow off of it in the morning. I know about the potential for scratches etc, though.

Anyone bought the Official Mini one for £135, seems a bit steep to me, but if its good, I suppose its worth it.

Thoughts/observations?

I bought my outside cover from OutMotoring in Ohio. It is OEM but was about half the price my local Mini guy charges. This included the exchange from $Canadian to $US, customs and freight.
The quality and fit are great. Check out local UK suppliers they may be able to help on the price.

Good Luck!

Talking

Hello, bought my outdoor cover from Moss Mini. Was around £65, it is fitted for the car, has a hole for the aerial and extra bits for the mirrors. Cannot fault mine, keeps mine looking good come rain or shine, regards Damian.

Bought an 'as new' original outdoor cover off eBay for £36.

Takes 2 minutes to put on and works a treat at keeping the beastie clean. You have to unscrew the aerial before fitting the cover but that's no big deal.

Fits like a glove, folds up small when removed and came with its own zip-up storage bag.

I would definitely recommend the original one

Cheers for the info, didnt realise you had to remove the aerial for the original cover, but looked again at the pic's Max put up and there isnt an aerial in the picture.

I am look at getting one mainly coz of winter, dont want to be scrapping the snow and ice off my mini.

Picked my my new car cover today, but....

I seem to be having a "Senior moment" The cover is attached to the bag at the bottom.

Should it be? does it sit somewhere under the car or something?
Instructions dont mention anything about it.

anyone got any ideas?

Yep , my original cover was attached to the bag too - so I ripped it off!!

Only later did I realise that it seems you're supposed to stick the bag to the car, using its sucker, whilst you unroll the cover over the car. Makes it more managable in the wind I think.

Oh well too late now...

Thought it might be something like that, but wasnt sure as I would have thought it could scratch the paint with the zip that runs around it (anyone?)

Cos its pitch black when I go to work and when I get home, not great for fighting with a new cover

My head has been running along the same lines. did buy an indoor cheapie one from MINI Mania back in the US and it turned out to be total crup. Now I am a bit gun shy, other that getting a California Car Cover NOAH one. they are fecking expensive and they are in California which at the minute is a bit far for me. Glad to hear good things about the MINI OEM outdoor one. I guess I will go over and see one.......and pay through the nose.......

It's better than standing there and scrapping the car for 10 minutes or so

Takes less than 2 minutes to remove cover. The cover doesn't absorb moisture, so if its got standing water on it you quickly wipe it over with a cloth first - no hassle. (Unless its still raining of course!!!).

Remind me, how long does it take to defrost/de-ice the windows on an uncovered car again?
