Still on original battery after 16000 miles in 3 years 4 months.
I've abused it though as it has gone too flat to start the car (after about 3 weeks parked up) on about 3 occasions, including once when it got so bad that alarm went off as it thought the battery had been disconnected (after about 5 weeks). Nowdays if I don't use it for a fortnight I charge the battery and leave it on trickle charge.
If lokoed after ie kept charged by driving it round and not allowing it to go flat it should last for 5 years 100,000 miles if not longer. Gone of the days where a battery would only last3-4 years!
Not quite an answer, as I've got 9 months on my car, but when you replace it, is there any battery out there not made of lead? I'm not that keen on acid either. Having paid $400 for a rear wind deflector for my convertible, who would doubt I'd pay the same for a lighter, better, longer lasting battery (one which doesn't require I keep the motor running while I put up my top).
I was also wondering about the MCS battery life. What do you guys do after the battery dies? Do you go to the MINI dealer and get a new one under warrenty or do you go and buy a new/better battery. Obviously, why spend money if you don't have to...but also, what happends if you battery desides to die on you!
