How To Change Brake Pads. (F&R)

FRONT

remove the wheel

remove the top from the brake fluid tank in the engine bay

now pull the pads out.. if tight use a long flat blade screwdriver to ease the piston back being careful not to damage the disc.

now remove the pads.

using a cloth to protect the discs leaver the pistons as far back as they will go using the screwdriver.

now place some copper grease on the back of the new pads

place the outside pad (the one with the clip) in first then slide the rear pad in. some force may be needed unless the piston is as far back as possible.

now this one is done

replace the wheel and repeat on the other side.

here is an exploded view of the front bakes

REAR

remove the wheel

this time undo the caliperby removing the 2 bolts from the rear of it (top & bottom)
now remove the pads..

to push the piston back, you need to push and turn it at the same time.

use some long nose pliers to do this as the correct tool is around £90

now place some copper grease on the back of the new pads

place the outside pad in first then slide the rear pad in. some force may be needed unless the piston is as far back as possible.

now this one is done

bolt the caliper back into place

place the cover back onto the brake fluid tank.

replace the wheel and repeat on the other side.

here is an exploded view of the rear

job done..

just start the car and press the brake pedal for the pads to move and be seated into the correct postion.

take it easy for a couple of miles as they will bite quite harsh.

if you require any more info just PM or Page me.
