Best product for cleaning alloys?

I don't have much time to clean my car at the moment and it's been over a month since it's last wash. The main problem I have when I clean the car is getting the alloys clean - I can never get all the black dots off the alloy lip no matter how hard I try. I currently use Meguiars Hot Wheels and a lot of elbow grease but still can't get the wheels spanking.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

I use AutoGlym Clean Wheels and Hi-Tech Wheel Brush - seems to get the wheels nice and clean everytime, with no deposits left. .

Used AutoGlym Clean wheels on my previous car bt won't be using it again as it caused the alloys to blister.

(waiting for someone to tell me Hot wheels is the same as Autoglym clean wheels )

I put polish on mine when I did the car, made them easier to clean as the c**p just came off. But then I clean them at least every 2 weeks if not every weekend, so they are never really dirty.

Other than that have used Wonder Wheels.

I find the Meguiars Hot Wheels and a decent quality wheel brush do the job

I purchased an alloy wheel brush (reaches all the hard to get to places easily) from Halfords for £1.95. Then I fill a bucket with warm soapy water and scrub.

Wonder Wheels is extremely effective, but I'm not sure what long terms effects it would have on your wheel laquer. If I ever get some on my hands it burns!

Wonder Wheels is an excellent but very aggressive cleaner. I ruined a set of composite
alloys by using Wonder Wheels all the time. Look on the box for a list of wheels they
aren't recommended for. I use Megs Hotwheels and Autoglym Hi-Tech brush but more
importantly I use EBC greenstuff pads which reduces the brake dust to less than a
tenth (just a guess on my part) .

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Thumbs up

I second the Simple Green. They do an automotive version here that really works well I gave up using the dedicated wheel cleaners as they seemed to harsh

Wonder wheels!!!!!!!!!!! I clean first and scrub as much as i can then go over the specs of brake dust with wonder wheels, great stuff. I've used it for nearly 4 years on same wheels and no probs but my wheels are painted white. My brother used them on his scooby's wheels for about the same amout of time and had no problem.

I use Wonder Wheels and find it very good. I was slightly concerned that it would cause some damage with repeated use so I diluted it with water. I bought a hand held garden sprayer for 88p from Tesco, half filled with WW, the rest just water. It still works great. I think I can get away with less WW in the next mix.

Try Turtlewax Extreme Wheel Cleaner, less corrosive than Wonder Wheels and does a good job, I spray it liberally on, give it a minute or two the jetwash it off, then finish with a sponge and normall car shampoo after I've done the rest of the body, works a treat!

I found Meguiars Hot Wheels to be good. Spray on and leave for a minute, scrub with a good quality wheel brush, wash with lots of warm soapy water, followed by a good rinse.
