Offline | The touch up kits do work, but touching up paintwork can be a bit fiddly. First of all, make sure you allocate yourself a good amount of time, it's not a job you want to rush! Always clean the area first... If the chip is fairly small, and the brush that comes with the pen looks too big for the job, use a wooden toothpick. Apply a tiny amount of paint to the centre of the chip, and let the paint fill the chip. Have a lint free cloth handy for remove excess paint. Once its dry and hardened, polish and protect the area. Hint: I actually went home via the local scrapyard and bought a old cars front grille for £2, just so i could practice filling chips before doing it on the MINI. If you can, I'd advise doing the same! ![]() |

Offline | If your technique is not good and you manage to get too much paint on the chip. Check out this product. It works great even on very old touchups. Try doing a google search on Langka. I've been using it with great success for years -- fabulous product. It takes the blob of touch up and allows you to plane it down to the level with the original paint. Jeff '05 MCS HyperBlue |
