Paint chiping.

New MINI owners as of 3/11/06 . I have wanted to post something earlier but we have been to busy driving. Our MINI has now a little over 1100 miles on it my bigest concern at this point is rock /paint chips we already have 4 on the hood.Don't know if we are that unlucky or if maybe there is a paint problem, any one out there having the same problem.

I had the same problem when i got my 2003 MCS. The hood and the aero kit front bumper were full of stone chips. At first i thought i will paint the bumper only but then on seconf thought i said i cannot have the bumper shining and the hood with chips.

So off i went to the paint shop and after 3 days i got my DS MCS with brand new hood and bumper.

Depends on the roads you use and the speeds involved. However if you are coming from
an old car this may be the first car you have had with the new water based paints. They
are far friendlier for the environment but they are not so tough so chipping is worse .

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Clear bra is the only way to go! I had it on my 03 MCS and now have it on my 06 MCSc. Definitely worth it if you want to prevent rock chips.

Haha! (sorry just a bra on a car sounds funny to a brit like me) Seriously though stone chips have been a big probem to me. Only had mine since sept 05 and already have loads of chips on bumper/bonnet. Guess thats the price we pay for having a sports hatch that sits so low on the road

That's why you should get a clear bra

Not seen any clear bras in the UK

Could we petition the government to make them compulsory
Especially in the summer..........

Just had mine fitted a week ago today, to my car I mean Not sure how much difference it will make but better than nothing. They seem to be more of a thing over in States than in the UK, perhaps us Brits don't care for our MINI's as much

MINIs seem to attract a LOT of rocks. Its almost amazing...

I'm getting a respray on the bonnet of my '06 (Nov) and a 3M Clearbra put on. I've got a monster rockchip, and a whole bunch of little ones. They'll sort them all out in the shop for me.
