Australia Warrenty Worries & Confused Please Help

Mods please dont move this thread as this thread relates to Australian MINI owners warrenty experiences.

Just curious, my warrenty runs out ( very soon ) April 16th & im not familiar with how the 3rd year est. $600 warrenty works.

Im guessing i can pay for it now & everything should be fine, but what happens if i dont pay & something *touch wood* happens to my Cooper & i havnt got the 3rd year.

Ive heard that you can pay the est. $600 for the 3rd year after a problem occurs with your MINI & they give you the option to pay the 3rd year that will cover you rather than pay the bill to fix what ever needs to be fixed.

This sounds like total bull dust to me, whats the go with the MINI warrenty, im confused.

Cheers
Daniel

I wouldn't risk it and pay for it now. It's like insurance: it's expensive but when you actually use it, it's the bargain of the century.

I paid for the extra year, and it has paid off.

It runs out in 2 mths and lately quite a few small things have been playing up, nothing major just little bits peices that are starting to show wear and tear but you can still get covered under warranty.

Seems that during the 2.5 to 3 yr period a few things seem to the time to have that extra warranty.

I'll second that.

I think I've got close to $6k worth of repairs in the last 3 months of the warranty....

pay my friend.. it will be worth it just incase.

i didnt bother and about 3 months after it ran out both my CV joints started to make the usual noise.. it was going to cost over £600 to fix plus a few other little problems..

in the end i just went and got another mini.. but will be getting the extended warrenty this time.

EMPTY SPACE NEEDS FILLING....
but it has to be something that wont get me banned

Hi Daniel, AndrewH(ottie) got it and I think it cost him $640ish but he can tell you the exact details (when he comes back down to earth after getting his new car today)

I agree go for it. Like all insurnace, when you need it the $600 will look very cheap.

I got it. Was between $600-700 but dunno exactly cause I was paying for a brake fluid change at the same time.

Given that I have close to 100,000kms on my car after 2 and a bit years and that the car is starting to get a bit tired, now is the time for things to start going wrong so I went for it. Having it may also make an extra selling point when you move up to an S.

I seriously doubt that they would let you take it up after something went wrong. It is like having a car accident unisured and expecting an insurance company to backdate a policy.

IMHO it should be worth it, although I'm unsure what it exactly covers, as I've had a few problems so far and none of it has been covered by warranty at all.

The only issue I had with the 3 year warrenty is the small print related to servicing - its 3yrs or 60000km whatever comes first. Given that the 3rd service doesn't come around until 72000 I was a little miffed that this wasn't raised until they had completed the service.

I know, I know shoulda read the fine print

$600 and u must pay in the last month of your warranty, they won't cover u later not even one day later. Whoever told u that u can pay if something goes wrong is pulling your leg. If that was the case no one would pay unless they had some problems. Just do, u will be kicking yourself if something happens and u don't get it. Better off, only need one little thing to go wrong to cost u buckets of cash. IMO.
