Best wax for roof graphics and stripes?

Hi all,

I have the Silver and Grey Union Jack on my S and black bonnet stripes with the white edging and wondered what wax peeps on their Vinyls? I have always used Autoglym Super Resin with the extra gloss but find this too abrasive especially on the black stripes, even very light pressure with an application sponge and I notice the black ink comes off the stripes, nothing serious but one day I imagine it will go through to the white base colour I then swapped to Meguires Gold Class wax, which is better as it's less abrasive but find it's not the best to buff off, ie it's a little gloopy once dry ? I'am now using Meguires NXT wax which is good and easier to buff off.

Would be interested to know what you use that gives good protection but is gentle? ( Had I better rephrase that ) ??

Cheers,

Tim

tim,

i wouldn't use polish on any vinyl as it is an abrasive and will probably cause damage, stick to using wax which just gives a protective coat and shouldn't cause any damage, lots of waxes are stated as safe for application on vinyl so just check the label

You can find no cut waxes.
LIke the NXT. Anything pure carnauba.
The easiest way to know is to make sure it doesn't say cleans and polishes or somehting along those lines. That's not 100% but that'll get most of them.

I wouldn't use wax at all on the roof.
Something like 303 Aerospace would be much better. It's made for vynyl and is a UV protectant as well. Works on all the plastics especially good on clear plastic and wipes off glass easily(if you get some overspray)

Thanks for the input guys, luckily I have tried Autoglym and Meguires only the once on the Vinyls so no lasting damage done. Since then I have been using just the Autoglym Extra Top gloss which is like water and contains no abrasives, which at least gives some prtection and makes water bead off.

I have just ordered off e-bay a tin of Harly 100% pure brazillian carnauba wax, which I understand contains no abrasives or cleaners so when I receive it, I will give it go and report back the results.

I would like to try the 303 Aerospace protectorant but only seems to be available from the states

Thanks again,

Tim

I can't recommend 303 highly enough.
Took me 30 years to find something that works as well. It's great stuff.
