Microfibre Cloths

Hey All,

Found some of these microfibre cloths at the dollar store.

both the blue coloured ones and pink ones. i mean for a buck who can go wrong? or are they nothing like the more expensive ones.

the feel same and stuff.

any ideas? even if you just use one per wash and then throw them out. even two. that's only two bucks a week or so.

cheers

Do you mean is a ten dollar cloth likely to be any better than a one dollar cloth?

Simple answer, yes it does. You can use them for the grubby jobs on your car though but are nothing compared to the decent cloths.

The best way to test MF's is to do the CD test. Take a CD and wipe over with the MF. If it scratches it's a cheap MF, no scratches = top quality MF. MF's should leave no scratches.

Folks need to read more about microfiber.
There's a LOT of differences in even the good brands.
You have thread densitty, thread exposed length, thread diameter all of which make them more effective for different applications.

Just saying I bought MF and I use it for_____ is just as uninformed as saying oil is oil

And as always be careful of the bound edges of this or any cloth used on paint.

Totally true Obehave. Glad someone went to the trouble to post that info as I couldn't find the info I was looking for when I posted. CD test is only needed after you've found the correct type of towel for what you need.

A lot of detailers seem to recommend PakShak from cleanandshiney.
