England Chips Away / Alloy Repairs

Just had the chips away guy at the house to sort out my 17" Bullets, can you believe I had three repaired. He has done an absolute brilliant job on them.

He charged me £50 for the passenger front and £5 each for others.

I will have some before and after pictures soon.

Wow, looks like they did an excellent job! I'm going to give my local ChipsAway a call and see if they can repair mine too (similar damage to two of my Bullet alloys). I also have a small 'car park' dent on my driver's side rear panel which I'm hoping they can fix without a respray.

Could do without the expense but it's my MINI's 1st birthday soon and she's worth it

Will post pics on here as and when...

I recently used them and wasn't impressed, but I'm sure it's because the guy took on a job that was too big (respraying the door!). It's nice to hear some positives about them, and I'm glad you're happy.

It could be me but it cannot be the same part of the alloy in the before & after shots...

... there is no valve and the pattern on the sidewall doesn't match

Think the phrase is perfectionist I spotted the exact same thing as JDinho

I have a couple of dings on my alloys, and seeing these results they seem good. I think i'll give them a call.

How long did they take to repair the alloys?

Don't get carried away yet - neither of the after pictures show the same spoke!

1st after pic has the large DSST wording next to it - not on original
2nd after pic has the tyre rotation arrow next to it - not on original

Please show us a picture of the repaired spoke. Sorry if you call this 'picky' but in this case its not unwarranted as you're trying to show the group the quality of the repair.

Have you not thought the tyre may have been removed for a better repair?

I don't thinks so, there are many threads on this forum discussing bad experiences with removing and fitting runflat tyres where alloys have been, to a greater-or-less extent, damaged.

Maybes they're not runflats though... here we go!

Thats why I want my wheels repaired. A completely inept tyre fitter managed to damage all four of my wheels

Chips Away Bedford

I had quite a lot of work done on my LYC towards the end of last year; they did a fantastic job.

They dealt with a large dent around the chrome surround on the boot (very tricky), two dings on the door, a roof ding and with door re-alignment work done; the car was restored perfectly. We had discussed painting my wheels but it turned out to be rather dear.

The price came to around £400, almost half the price of other quotes I had received. We now have a unit right next to them in the Industrial Park; they are great guys and would highly recommend.

Switch; I cannot believe Mini have disontinued LY.

Late on the scene , Life thru a screen....

I don't think it is the exact same part of the wheel. In the two pictures the valve is on the wrong side in the after-shot

If it is a good job then no doubt you are proud to have you mini looking spangly fresh, if however you want an objective view of the work then we need correct photo's.

For all i know you could be Mr ChipsAway from Walsall who's used random pics from users galleries and tried to get yourself some business.

Belive me it is the same wheel I will sort my photo's out at the weekend.

They do not remove the tyres, in fact not even the wheel. Just a case of sanding down and respraying.

I will do photos lateer as The bloke said not to wash for 3/4 days.

He took around 2 1/2 hours, really earned his money.
