| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Are we talking about polish or wax here? Polish contains abrasives and is used to remove minor scratches, swirls, contamination and oxidised paint. Wax is used to protect the surface after polishing. What are you trying to achieve??? ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | good one.... well as i've just splashed out on a new cooper, the budget isn't great but within reason! I've heard of AutoGlym, Zymol, Swissol and Meguiars, But what is the best? |

| MINI2 Senior | How old is your paintwork? If it is older than six months then I would advise the following. The best results I have found so far... Clay your paintwork first with something like Sonus clay bar to get a glass like finish to start with - takes 2 hours plus and requires you to wash your car before and after the clay. Then polish with Poorboy's Polish with Carnauba. You should really finish off with a wax / sealant after this but as the weather is ok - you can seal it the next time you wash. This will leave you with a deep 'wetlook' shine. ![]() Ok your car is new so scratch the claying! I find AutoGlym leaves a lot of residue. |

| MINI2 Senior | No worries... If you do a search on Google for Poorboy's polish etc, I think there are only two importers of this in the UK. One of them also sells on eBay. However, for the winter I am going to try Collinite wax - suposedly about the toughest and longest lasting wax out there. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | I personally love Meguiars products but use Poorboys too. What Neil says is correct although a lot of people are finding brand new cars are worth claying due to contamination during transport. Easy way to tell if your car needs claying. Run you fingers over the surface (in a plastic bag if you prefer). If the paintwork doesn't feel as smooth as glass it needs claying. Meguiars Quik Clay is a good starting point and available at Halfords. Can't really recommend a polish as the ones I use are for machine and not hand. I'd use NXT Tech Wax as a sealent (again available at Halfords) Wax I'd go for Poorboys Nattys Blue. Although this is designed for darker colours it seems to give a whiter than white shine when used on white cars. White is probably the hardest colour to get looking spot on so I'd advise you to experiement with different products if you can. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |
