Anyone know how to reset the check engine light? I've done the log on and ran the diagnostic test #14, which comes up with nothing. My 03 Mini is no longer under warranty and I do my own Oil changes. I reset the oil service countdown. Tried disconecting the battery. Anything else I can try? I live 3 and a half hours from the nearest dealership!!!

My understanding is that you cannot see what error was thrown unless you have the ODB computer. So, it is possible that your car is throwing a warning for something that you need to take it to the dealer for. Other than that, the only way that I know is via a tool like this...

Most likely you have the same problem that we did with both of our MINIs. The manual says that the engine light is a sensor. In both cases on our MINIs, it was a knock sensor. While they say it is okay to drive it like that, they suggest getting the sensor replaced as soon as possible. For an S model, it's about a 3 hour job. With my husband's we called in the problem and they put in on the computer. With mine, we plugged in one of those car chips and it showed the same problem.
