My MC has been laid up for nearly 6 months now, not been able to drive due to a cornea graft in my left eye. Yesterday when I ran the car I noticed that the countdown to next service ( 2nd oil change ) seems to have dropped from about 4000 miles at Christmas to 1400 now, about 400 per month. Has anybody else noticed this or know if this is normal?
Hi Pat,
This is completely normal. When you don't use a car it still needs its regular check up. For example, in manuals clutches have a tendancy to seize when not used for a period of time, and oil also needs to be changed when it has been sitting around for an extended period of time.
This is one thing that MINI has over other manufacturers, that is that it doesn't rely on the "regular service interval" to let the owner know when it needs a bit of TLC. The car will tell you when it needs some TLC
