Offline | How often do you wash your MINI's engine compartment? I was washing my MINI today and, as I was washing the engine compartment I wondered how many mini2ers wash it too, and how often they do it. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Best way is to do it with a cloth... obviously the painted surfaces, and bits that you can see that are dirty . As long as you don't drench it in water, and only wipe it over, you won't damage anything. I suggest using a cloth and Meguiars Quick Detailer to do it . |

Offline | I have a collection of brushes I use. Cheap wheel brush, cheap paint brush (used and tatty) and an old toothbrush. I treat the plastics and rubber with 303 Aerospace about 1-2 times a year. Recent pic of my 4 year old engine bay ![]() |

Offline | And when you are at a show and shine, its little things like a nice looking engine bay that help out. Also, when you've modded your car, and go on a run, you end up with your bonnet up a fair bit of the time (people asking to see what you've done), so it is nice to be able to show off something nice looking . |

Offline | In the ebay listing for the MINI we just sold, we included the line "dust in the engine compartment proves no modifications were made to this MINI". Hey, it sold! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | some of you guys could use this cookbook ![]() amazing that it's $45, it's for real... From Publishers Weekly Feeling a mite peckish on those long road trips? Pack along this humorous cookbook and whip up Cajun-style shrimp in your car or recreational vehicle. All you need are shrimp, pork fat, "whatever 'Cajun' seasonings you've seen advertised," a set of wheels and someplace to go. Cook on a medium-hot part of the engine for about 55 miles. If that's too much work, pick up several stuffed peppers (preferably from a backwater North Jersey Italian deli), wrap them in foil and pop under the hood. Maynard, a photographer, and Scheller, a travel writer, are as adept at roasting trendy cookery as they are at warming pastrami sandwiches while they drive an auto rally. They teach drivers to view their vehicles in a new way, locating cooking surfaces via the "burn your finger" method of temperature verification. They may even change the way people select new cars: the Chevrolet Celebrity GL offers six servings, while the Camry has only three but sports a bun warmer, a feature seldom mentioned in Toyota ads. The authors sober up to serve a clear warning: carelessness under the hood can be dangerous to car and driver. Illustrations not seen by PW. Author tour.
