Question Removing Water Spots from Glass?

Hi All,

I just gave my Mini its first bath and all looks good, except that I allowed water to dry on the windows, mistakenly thinking that my window cleaner would remove any water spots Next time I will shammy off the water from the windows, just like I do the paint -- but does anyone know how I can safely undo the current damage? (In California we have really "hard" water -- i.e., full of minerals and junk.)

By the way, I do not have tinted windows (yet), but used a non-ammonia window cleaner anyway.

For hard water, some of the cleansers with citric acid are excellant at disolving mineral deposits. Such as Citric Plus, and Lime Away.

Follow up with a wipe down with newspaper to minimze lint, also helps to control glare off the windows.

Is that safe for windows? What if some drops onto the paint?

Thanks for the speedy reply! I'm looking forward to returning my mini to pre-goof shape!

In the UK I use AutoGlym Car Glass Polish, then treat it with Rain-X to help stop getting more smears in the future.

You can get it from some US importers.

White vinegar on a cotton cloth works well.

I would be careful of the paint. If necessary, just spray it in a cloth and wipe off the spots.

Yes, I should have remembered this! We use white vinegar in our coffee maker to get rid of hard water deposits. Thanks to all who gave suggestions. I just ordered the "California Original Water Blade" to make sure this doesn't happen again

All I can say is thank goodness for this site's search engine. I spent all morning washing and Zaino-ing the new one, and the California sun just plays havoc with the water spots. The vinegar works great, but what is the "California Original Water Blade"?--kat

Money well spent. I bought mine at Target. Get the one that looks like a " T " on the edge.
Takes a bit to learn but once you do it's great. I can dry my whole car with the blade and a hand towel.

I swear by this product. My MINI "almost" doesn't need Little Blue microfiber cloth after using the water blade. Whatever drops of water that are still on tight spots not quite accessible by the water blade, I dry off with the cloth.

And thanks for the tip about white vinegar. I'll try that.
