Offline | Best washes/polishes/ waxes for Dark Silver/ White My new '56 DS/W Works is waiting for the 2nd of September when I can pick it up. I want to keep it looking its best but without too much hard work, I'll maybe get a chance to do a proper wash once every two weeks to a month and a quick rince inbetween. What products have people found that work well on the DS paint, presumably it needs something which will have a wet look but not detract from the flake in the paint. On recomendation I'm not getting her Diamondbrited or whatever so I'll need to get some good sealeant and waxes on there for protection ![]() I don't mind investing in decent stuff like Megs Cheers MB |

Offline | Once mine's washed and de-tarred (with a drop of petrol on a clean rag) I use Meguiars NXT polish, followed by Natty's paste. The 2 layers brings the shine up an absolute treat. I'm sure it doens't need to be done nearly as often as I do it, but I love the shine ![]() |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | That's a good process to follow Nylo. NXT followed by Nattys Blue is quite a common finish people use. Personally I would ease up on the NXT. Maybe using it every 3rd or 4th wash to build up a nice layer of Nattys. The NXT has mild cleaners in it so you will lose a bit of wax from the last application everytime you use it. There are many products that can be used though www.detailingworld.com is a good forum to check out. Plenty of advice on there on how to wash, polish and wax your car causing the minimum damage to your paintwork finish. If you are still using a sponge and one bucket of wash solution then this site is worth checking out to see what you are doing wrong and what a modern wash technique should be. Be warned though your wallet often takes a beating after going on this site ![]() ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | I'm seriously considering the Chemical Guys set suggested by David over on Detailing World, I'm also going to get a couple of buckets with grit guards for the two bucket wash method ![]() Looking at about £100 all in but thats with a decent wash mit and applicators too, much cheaper than Meguiers MB |

| MINI2 Regular | Matt Take a look at the Jeffs Werkstatt twins, I replied to your post on Detailing World. I didn't realise the car was brand new, you might want to leave it a few weeks before sealing to let the paint fully cure. After that I would reccomend using a very mild clay like sonus green before you seal for the first time to remove all the factory/ transport crap that it will have aquired. If you can face collecting a new dirty car I would ask the dealer not to wash or polish the car they WILL put small scratches in it. Mine came brand new from Irvings BMW Bridgwater with a noticeble scratch one the bumper and mud on the inside! |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | You do not need to wait for the paint to cure. It is cured in an oven at the factory at high temperature. The only time you need to wait for paint to cure is after a repair as they cannot bake it at as high a temperature with everything in the car, that's if they bake at all. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | I've gone with the Werkstatt twins as recomended on DW they seem a bit less labour intensive then the Chemical Guys stuff and the acrylic really seems to make the flake pop out and has a longer lifespan than natural wax which is idea for me ![]() Also got my buckets and a small pack of Sonus Green with lube to get the paint perfect before we start Asked for a sample of the Chemical Guys Spider Web remover too incase the dealer do put some fine lines on her when the PDI her ![]() Looking forward to a dry and cloudy day a week or so after pick up so I can get a good layer of protection on her ![]() MB |
