Front Seat-Back Problem

Help! The front passenger seat-back will not "unadjust" from the full tilt back position. Any tips?

I pulled up on the inner seat adjust lever to tilt the seat-back up from the fully back (reclined) position, and the seat-back will not release. The lever to release the seat-back to let the rear passenger out releases the seat-back but the back will not latch in any position other than the fully reclined position

I had this same problem on my '06 S. Basically what I did was to play with both levers, pulling them up and down and after a couple minutes it seemed to release whatever was jammed and haven't had a problem since.

Sacramento Mini dealer says this is not uncommon -- cables and/or springs get hung up; easy fix by dealer -- it is under warranty

The fix took about 30 seconds -- the service guy, facing Flower's rear, put his knees on the seat and with both hands gave a pretty good "whomp" (his term) in the middle of the seat-back top. This released whatever was keeping the seat-back in the fully reclined position.

The service guy said if I do that do not do it too hard -- a broken seat back is not covered under the warranty
