England WaterLess Wash

New years resolution is to wash my car properly. Hose + 2 bucket method. However if the car is only slightly dirty does the waterless wash work. I'm intrigued. Read the promotion blurb and it sounds to good to be true. If anyone has experience of waterless would be grateful for your feedback.

Happy new year to all

Peter

I think he may be reffering to these products http://www.nowet.com/carwash.htm
The one thing I can't understand is how rubbing a terry cloth onto your dirty car will not scratch it? Surely this is the same a grinding in the dirt like the describe happening with a bucket and water but without the water to help wash it all away hmmmmmm not sure it is a good solution. If your short of time go to a hand car wash n give em a fiver
regards.

Don't use the no-wet system if your car is really dirty, wash it properly. The no-wet system is great if your car just needs a bit of sparkle if you are off on a sunday drive, or going round to the relatives. It is a great system, but only as a quick enhancer....

Yes this was my thoughts as well. Apparently the solution suspends the dirt so it does not scratch the paintwork. Hmm... Does anybody know how this type of product compares to a quick detailer. I was thinking in terms of wet wash, airdry to reduce risk of scratching and then a waterless wash type of product to remove water marks and bring up the shine.

Have to say, the product does sound like its just a QD solution. )Which is not good enough for a proper wash, but is ok for very very light dirt. Such as after some rain, and you have some dirty marks from the rain etc). All in all i wouldnt buy it, i would just use some QD if the car needs a quick shine.

There is no substitute to washing your car properly with the correct method and materials. ie 2 buckets, wash mitt etc etc.

I'm using ProTech Laser wash (I have the ProTech protection layer).

It works but I don't dare to use it on a very dirty car. I have used it on International runs when I wan't my car to look good the next day and there is no time to wash because the hotel bar is open. There are no scratches on the car.

According to ProTech you can also use it on a car without the ProTech protection layer, but I don't think I would dare to do that.

Ideal World keep showing this bloke Stan with his Spray n Shine stuff. Just spray your dirty car and then wipe off with a cloth. Don't see how rubbing dirt and possibly grit into your bodywork can be good for it.
They do demonstrate it on cars which have not been washed for 6 months, well if after 6 months my car only had a thin layer of grime on I'd be fairly happy !
I will stick with buckets, sponges and pressure washer. A lot of messing around but a great finish.

Yes agreed. However my point was using it as a quick detailer either after a proper wash or in between wet washes. It might also be quite useful in the summer to get rid of squashed bugs before they get baked on, or giving the windscreen a quick clean, or removing bird **** before it can do damage.

Yes, this is the right way to do it. I have a Zaino system that is the dogs, and very expensive. They have a gloss enhancer which I use in between washes to take dust and the like off the paintwork in between polishing. I use this system on my SL500 and I promise you it gives a fantastic finish, especially on darker colours. As for using the system on a filthy car, well... ask yourself why? Use this stuff as an enhancer and you cant go wrong!

I think I`d still prefer to use water & maybe a damp chamois to remove minor stains such as that.
Although this stuff will probably be suitable for use at a car show for minor blemishes.
Have you seen the price of it !!!

Waterless washes are amazing. I find a lot of people are very skeptical at first, but once they start using them, they rarely want to even go back to the traditional method. It should be noted that waterless washes shouldnt be used for heavily soiled vehicles. However, I suggest that they are safe to use in situations where your car was recently washed, but maybe you had to drive across town after a recent rain. This is a great time to use a waterless wash. I suggest poorboys spray n wipe. One of the best waterless washes out there. Spray the spray n wipe on one panel at a time. Let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute, then, with a nice microfiber towel, gently wipe the panel down, lifting the dirt off the vehicle.
Following a waterless wash, I would suggest a quick detailer or spray wax. Spray n gloss, quick shine, quick wax+ are all great examples of a follow up spray to a waterless wash.

I've been using ULTRA - ION from go-waterless.co.uk for about 5 months now, and it really does work . I was sceptical before i tried it, but curiosity got the better of me .

Providing the terry towel used to put the solution on, has a light spray to make it feel damp, then no scratching occurs. After rubbing off to finish with the microfiber cloth, the paint looks really shiny, feels very slick to touch and is water repellent for up to 4 months.

It is true that if the car is really dirty, you'll need to wash it with soapy water. But this stuff is not some fancy detailer, it really does clean the car. The job it does of the windows is truly spectacular, in fact it's worth it for the windows alone . The tyre & trim works very well on all the black plastic too.

Try it, I think you'll be amazed at how good it is. I certainly was.
