Power Steering Fluid Level

Hi

I was checking the power steering fluid level on my 2002 MCS, but couldn't work out where the level was supposed to be on the dipstick.

I've attached a picture with marks A B and C, so if you could tell me if it supposed to be between A and B or B and C, that'd be great!!

It's currently between B and C.

Cheers

Mike

It dosn't say anything in the manual?

If it is the same as BMW, then it should be between B & C, but better check in the manual or wait for someone more informed about MINI's than myself, to get a definite answer.

No it doesn't mention it at all in the manual. I had a search of the forums but I couldn't find a concrete answer.

Thanks for your help though

Just checked the Haynes manual and A is the max level and B is the min level, so it should be between A and B. Note that you should have the steering straight, car on level ground and the engine switched off before doing the check.

Thanks Maz, does the Haynes manual say what type of fluid the system takes? Any ideas if it's available from Halfords etc, or just BMW/Mini?

Cheers

You can find it at your VW or Audi dealer.
About $30 for a liter bottle if I remember correctly

Here it is at $25 from amazon.com (autobarn)

Amazon.com: Pentosin CHF 11S Hydraulic Oil (1 Liter): Automotive

Sorry to dig up this thread but thought it would be useful to say that I have found the CHF11S PAS Fluid at my local car spares shop. Its not the Castrol one that MINI use, but it is made by Comma and states ont he back that it mreets BMW requirements and is suitable for MINI PAS Systems
