Stone Chips

I have a couple of annoying stone chips, whats the best thing to do about these? I have the car booked in for its first oil service next week and was going to ask for a touch up pen.

How much should I expect to pay for the pen? And is it easy to use?

I take it they won't do it for free during the service?

Cheers

The pen is about £9.50... You'll get your colour and a lacquer stick in the pack...

Touch up pens can make the car look worse on some colours, if you can see if a bodyshop can do the job for you or a firm call Chips away I hear are pretty good and reasonable rates.

The "trick" I've heard is to use a needle to apply drops of the paint... much more accurate than the brush supplied.

Never tried it myself but will certainly be giving it a go when I get some chips on my car.

No. 1

Touch up articles suggest using a No.1 artist brush for touching up stone chips as these hold the paint and only apply a small amount.

I used a cocktail stick.

The other thing they dont tell you is that you have to shake the paint for at least 30 mins to get it to mix properly and be the right colour.

JEEZ, talk about inflation. I realise that this post was about two years ago, but I thought people would like to know that the current cost [October 2009] for a pen and some lacquer is £18.01!

Yes...more than double (not sure what's going on about the 1p too...but never mind. I was shocked when I was expecting it to be about £10!

Those are called 'Car Bras' and I seen that loads of folk touring in the USA use them when on long road-trips and they have nice motors.

I like driving in my car, it's not quiet a Jaguar.
