Rapairing "cat surfing" damage and scratches?

Our recently adopted Cooper S has suffered from a series of "cat surfing" sessions at the in-laws, and has a few scratches on the bonnet as a result.

It also has a few light scratches and chips, as in stone chips on the front and what I can only guess are branch scratches on the side. Some are deeper/more obvious than others, there's not LOADS, but they're all over the bodywork.

From experience, what's going to be the best value and most pleasing course of repair?

Chips Away or the dealer (or approved BMW bodyshop down the road to be exact)? I'm not sure how chips-away charge, but worried the spread and number of small marks might work against us in terms of cost, whereas a body shop may charge for the paint and time? No idea. Any help?

most pleasureable course of repair would be using a fur polishing cloth witha nice tabby motif on it . It may even prevent re-occurance

Green Cooper

My car also suffers from cat scratches. My garage sidedoor had an old cat flap in it and the furry fiends get in there and jump on the bonnet. I've now sealed the flap with chicken wire so the buggers can congregate elsewhere. I'm hoping to get the scratches removed soon. Most annoying. Might try chipsaway or a similar sort of company.

I will probably get quotes both ways. Never had experience (on paintwork), with Chips-Away, although they did repair my wheels once, and did a great job of that.

Paul depending on the severity of the scratches they could be polished out, ive just imported a Porter Cable 7424 from America and TBH that will get most scratches out depending on there severity, using different density foam pads and high abrasivness of polishes.

After the lakes run recently and the narrow roads we went down some of the plants etc on the hedge rows have minorly scratched my car, im going to give it a full detail tomorro with pics before and after to show you some of the scratches gone!

So... if you can get hold of someone with one of these machines or if the cost from a local detailer is going to be the same price as a paint repair, id go with the detailer, the detailer will take alot more care and pride in his job with this kind of work.

P.s, Try youtubeing a "Porter Cable 7424" and see the results on video from some of the companys that ship them to the UK!

Hope this helps Scott.

This looks impressive:
YouTube - Removing Car Scratch Technique

Only the video quality is so bad, you cant tell if there's a scratch or not!

Well hears my results from using the Porter cable 7424 took me 9 hours in total but this only gets done evrey 6 month and this is the first on this car.

The 2 pics above are a before and after! im a complete novice using this machine and its basically idiot proof so you cant burn your paintwork!

The white dots on pics 2 are just dots of dry polish not marks on the paint!
