Brake wear indicator

Afternoon!

Just replaced my front brake pads this morning. The wear indicator light hasn't gone out, should it go out automatically or does it need resetting? I have changed the pad wear sensor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just incase anyone is interested, the wear indicator light does go out automatically!
It just takes a while, roughly two weeks in my case. I was told that it had to be reset at the dealer but turns out it didn't!
So if anyone is in the same position be patient and save your pennies!

Turn the key

I haven't tried this personally yet, but I read elsewhere you need to turn the key to position 2 (without turning the engine) for 30 seconds, and the break light will reset.

Rear brake pad sensors require a part to be changed to get the light to switch off.

Thanks for the fix!

A garage changed my brake pads plus sensor on Saturday and the brake indicator is still on. I've tried the 30 sec wait without engine one... but it didn't work for me.

I'm sure when I had the brake pads changed first time around, they reset the brake indicator. What should I do now?

cheers

Had my brake pads replaced and the garage advised my they could not get the light to go off and must be a fault. I called MINI and advised them of the issue and said bring it in and they would reset the chip for £20. Im so glad I checked out the forums, leaving the key at position 2 worked!

Great post, thanks for the advice!
