| Countdown Queen! | Filters etc?!? Hi. My MCS is 2 years old now with 13.5k on the clock and although I have TLC, I was wondering what other routine changes I should be doing and when?? Filters, plugs etc?!?! I just want to make sure that my baby is running as best as possible?? Also should I go aftermarket or not?? Any advice would be gratefully received and please bear in mind that I am a novice!!!! Cheers!!! ![]() ![]() |

Online | Well the TLC pack is not always the best way to keep the car running at its best. If you leave it to TLC the air filter and plugs don't get changed until Inspection 2 at appx. 55000 miles! I changed my air filter at about 40000 soon after getting the car - the old one was not a pretty sight.... (There's a picture on here somewhere but I can't find it right now!)I changed mine for a K&N panel filter - nothing too sporty but a noticeable improvement in fuel consumption. Well worth doing and really easy to do yourself. I didn't get round to changing the plugs until I got to Inspection 2 (Yesterday!) but it would really be a good idea to change them at some pont before Inspection 2 as well. You're not doing high miles so probably not ready for either of these yet but worth keeping in mind for the future. |

Offline | I'd consider getting a replacement element like a Pipercross or K&N. That way, as well as giving better filtration, you can clean them. ![]() |

Online | Yeah, it was an apple core stuck to the filter! The bottom of the airbox had loads of fag ends and leaves lying in it as well. God knows how it all gets in there. I check and clean it quite regularly now! ![]() |
