Offline | R57 MCS exhaust smoke - normal R57 MCS exhaust smoke - normal??? Hi All, I got an R57 MCS a few weeks back, and have a question for you all. When I picked it up, all was fine, and we drove perhaps 30 miles (A roads + m'way) before stopping at Services. While my wife dashed in to get a sandwich, I sat in the car in the new-for-08 'stop-start' mode (i.e. the engine had stopped itself temporarily). When my wife came back (4 min later) I started up the car, at which point a cloud of smoke came out the exhaust - the smell could be described as similar to that you get when soldering electrival circuits. The smoke dispersed after a few seconds, and we put it down to the new car 'bedding in'. However, since then I've noticed that during my trips to work in the morning, there seems to be more smoke floating past my rear screen than other cars when I'm in a traffic queue. Does this experience sound familiar to anyone, or should I be worrying? Thanks for any help. miniAngst. Last edited by miniAngst : Sep 19th, 2007 at 07:54 AM. Reason: Hmm - the title lost the three question marks at the end |

Offline | Hi ALD0 - thanks for the speedy reply! I'm up to around 800 miles now - mixture of motorway and A roads. BTW the smoke seems to occur mainly in the morning, and only at the start of my journey. Is it normal to get a lot of smoke on first drive? Thanks, miniAngst |

Offline | Ah - just found a bunch of similar threads, so I don't feel so bad now. I was starting to get paranoid that the new stop-start stuff was causing problems. Thanks for the air-time, and hello fellow smokies ![]() All the best, miniAngst. Last edited by miniAngst : Sep 19th, 2007 at 08:22 AM. Reason: typo |
