Offline | How often, and what polish? I have always enjoyed cleaning my cars, and more precisely, admiring the finished results! My question for you all is how often should I actually do this. Normally I clean my car once a week and I usually polish it afterwards as well. However is this too often, especially with the polishing, as I have heard that this can damage the paintwork if its done too often? Also can anyone recommend a good polish I want to buy some new stuff. I am currently using the car polish supplied to me by Coopers BMW with the purchase of paintwork protetion of my car. I also have a little Mer left which I used to use on my old car. I want something that is quite easy to apply and not too expensive, but that produces excellent results. Many thanks Mike |

| ProNet:3 Gaming Community | Ive followed this same routine for a year or two and has always made the paint look good! wash/dry - Preferably with wash mit, good quality shampoo and a drying towel. Polish using Autoglym super resin polish doing one panel at a time. then smear Autoglym enhanced gloss protection (VERY thinly) over whole car. leave to "cure" for 60 mins then buff to shine. leave car for 18/24 hours then use a good quality wax (poorboys nattys blue, P21S or similar) doing one panel at a time. Once this is done, just add a layer of wax about once a month which will be easy. ONLY re-polish it every 6 months. the wax will protect it. the car will then have a deep glossy look and feel to it. it will be easier to wash!! Ive not done mine yet having only had the car a couple of days, but when I do ill get some pics up. hope this helps. in the mean time, this is how my old car looked after the above method.. ![]() |

Offline | Indeed it does. Where did you take the pics mate? Road looks familiar but I just can't place it! I've only ever polished my cars, never waxed, I thought 'Wax' was a term that people used for polish, I need to look into this waxing lark I think! |

Offline | The pictuce called "Cheshire View" (Not the pub) but its near there, and its not far from Mow Cop Castle. Its along the top road. Its really nice on a summers day, but it was a bit overcast yesterday which was a bummer. I never thought about Waxing either, and i though wax wash a posh name for polish too! I understand the logic now. Worked a treat - I will definately be doing this more often! Rob |

Offline | I certainly will, i'll be purchasing some wax this week, and will apply at the weekend if it is dry for long enough. I'm really excited now (How sad), hopefully it will restore that 'just polished' look and easre of washing properties that are lost after a few washes following polishing. I must stop reading these forums, it'l cost me a fortune! ![]() Arh, Mow Cop, thought it was either up that way, or over near the Mermaid near Leek somewhere. Great results though Rob, and keep an eye out, I may see you about! ![]() |

| GP 06 MCS 0380 | AG super resin polish has very little abrasives hence its suitable to use my hand. It is however full of fillers which fill swirl marks and hide them by stopping the light catch of the edges of the swirls. If working my hand alone after washing I would invest in a clay bar, then some AG super resin followed by a good quality wax. Pointless waxing and polishing if you dont first clay the surface. Would clay polish and wax the car say every 3-6 months. But between times keep the wax topped up every few times you wash the car. Some waxes last hardly any time. Others last months. ![]() |

Offline | I basically clay when I run my hand over the car and feel very pronounced bumps (normally on roof, boot, bumper and shoulder line) Which is like PMP says 3-6 months. I always make a note that if I polish anything like scratch x anything or get tar off using polish the I always seal with wax or my Tech Meguiars wax. PMP whats a good wax to buy? As I only ever really use tech Wax, MINI wax (which I don't like much) or Autoglym Enhanced gloss protection (black logo on the white bottle) |
