United-Kingdom Passenger door not unlocking!!!!

The passenger door in my 2003 cooper will not unlock when I press the key fob since about a week ago. The driver door and boot unlock fine. Any ideas folks?

JB

I think the passenger door solanoid has gone - it's just happened to me. Part was £58 inc. VAT from local stealer, but will be getting a local mechanic to fit it to avoid stealer labour charges!

Oh great. that's a bit of a bummer, i've just paid out for TLCXL too! I have my car booked into a local mechanic next week to have a quick look at it. I'll keep you informed.

Listen to the door

Have someone push the unlock button while you have your ear or hand on the door, if you feel movement in the door then the lock has just popped of the hinge or something small. If you feel nothing than its prb the seloniod. or lock actuator, not sure of the name. Either way the door has to come apart to fix it. Gluck!
If your any good at mechanics you can always take apart the door, and check the wires going to the locking mechanism. Have someone hit the unlock button and check if the signals is there. If it is then replace the locking mechanism that sint activating, if it isn't then its either the switch or a short.

Locks fine though right? Just won't unlock.
If you have the feature I'm betting it doesn't autolock when taking off either.
If these are true then it's the actuator. Had mine replaced once. Needs it again.

Hi, i have a problem with my Mini One D where the passenger door does not lock or unlock.

Does anyone know if this is a programmable option or if its more likely to be the solenoid at fault?

Thanks

Dan

I have had my cooper in for a brake fluid change at a BMW garage. They did a routine check externally and internally and picked up on my passenger door not unlocking. They reckon it's the solanoid and quoted me £185.40! They couldn't say for definite as they didn't strip down the door. I can still open it from the inside, so will put up with it for now!
