Hi, Just wondering if anyone has experienced whining sounds when turning the steering whhels of their minis. I have a cooper S 2003. It has 18 inch alloys, from a Honda I think! Anyway I have noticed a whining sound when turning the steering wheel whilst car is stationary . It's the same both ways and of course when lock is applied more noticeable. Is this normal? Hoe often should steering fluid be changed? And lastly, I live in Düsseldorf, Germany! Can anyone recommend a decent mechanic in this part of Germany or in the Kent area in England? I have heard horror stories of BMW dealers taking 60 Euros off poor customers just to press the reset tyre inflation switch!!!

Any help on these questions Greatly appreciated.

Probably just the motor / power steering pump thing (sorry - someone more technical will probably be along and tell me what I should call it!) - anyway - a whining noise is a 'feature' in the previous models. My old Cooper did it - I kinda miss it now!
