Offline | whats that noise???? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Good evening all, hope u are well, ''SIGH''![]() Within the last week my little mini has started making loud noises from the rear, can anybody help? It sounds like the suspension, as every time a go over a bump it makes the most painful sounding, creaking noise. Then, once over the bump, it proceeds to rattle until the car moves onto a smoother section of road.![]() I took it to my local mechanic , he does all my regular work, and he could not see anything, he had it up on the lift, shone lights in around the dark places, took it down from the lift, took it for a wee spin and a rattle, acknowledged that ' Yes, indeed a problem is there' put it back on the lift, shone a brighter light on it into even darker places but still could not find the cause or origin of these noises,![]() Please help, any information would help. ![]() |

Offline | hmm, could it be bearings of some description from the rear?? This happened in my girlfriends car, speedbumps made the car sound like a very squeeky bed. Just a suggestion. Colin |

Offline | Sorry but this isn't going to be of much help, Any mechanic worth his salt as they say, should have been able to pinpoint the noise within reason (even hearing a noise, a mechanic should be able to have had some idea of what it was just hearing it), especially when they had access to a ramp. It's hard to go off someones description of a noise & where it's coming from as they can be quite deceptive at times (noises & descriptions). If a mechanic sat in the car who has heard it & heard where it's coming from can't find it with access to a ramp & a big lamp, what chance do we have??? ![]() ![]() ![]() (no offence intended).People can only go off their experiences and they may / will be different to yours hence you'll get everything from door panel, dash, rear interior panels, bushes, wheel bearings (MINIs have that many rattles / faults), etc... etc... and none off them will apply to yours. The wheel bearing is a very good point. You may even have more than one noise playing tricks on you ![]() ![]() ![]() .Hope you sort it soon & good luck !!!!!!!!!! Sorry I couldn't be more help .![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind. Disclaimer ![]() |
