up-date,
took photo of hole, or should i say trench approx 2mtrs x 1 mtr, repaired [sort of] already so cannot confirm depth, sent report to transport for London yesterday
how do i stand leagal wise? do i do work first then try and get refunded by highways agency?

front near side arch trims hanging off are colour coded & headlamps rattle when lifting up hood jets have tried to land on me
can i put this onto dealers, for the lamps or will they just laugh at the 215/40/17 profiles and lower springs and say self inflicted, cross my palm with silver.....

A friend of mine hit a pothole (1feet x 2 feet 8 inch deep) on the A34 by Oxford, buckled front and rear alloy.

Took him 6 months to go through everything with the Highways agency in the end they said nothing to do with them as it is impossible to maintain every stretch of road in the UK.

Case closed, had to pay out for the alloys himself.

Hope you have more luck.

Happy, no? But happier than paying out a grand.

To be honest, you can't expect any given road you drive on to be free of defects. If a defect has been reported and they do nothing about it, then I think you've got a complaint.

Hope you spelled "lose" correctly in your letter to Ken

good luck mate.. potholes are annoying, but its very hard to claim money back. Also depending on the street it could be managed by your council.

Thumbs down

also note to others,

combinations to avoid

215/40/17 + 30mm eibachs + BBK + et 37 + 16mm spacers + London pothole =

prevention better than cure ...

Potholes are abundant now wherever you go and I have heard of some people successfully claiming for damage to their wheels.

However if you have an offset that means that your wheel can touch your arches under full compression then I cant see how that is the council's fault, at least from a legal point of view, for damage to the paintwork but maybe not from a moral point of view.

Good luck with your claim. I have heard somewhere recently that they spend more each year on claims than they do on fixing potholes. Mental!

from the moral perspective ken has already had a few quid out of me after extending the congestion charge into west kensington, last Easter drove 100 mtrs in and out to stay in hotel for a few days so got done twice, thought i knew edge of zone around Earls court, & Chelsea.
i can now see that the money is not being spent on the roads, as i have evidence of poor repair before and after my impact with this cavity, could have killed someone on a motorbike, so i will not accept it as one of those things.....about time our public employees accepted a bit of responsibility, if my job is not up to std i am accountable...about time it worked the other way
