DIY Reverse Gear Pop Out, Bearings and What else to expect?

Hi

Got a 51 Plate Cooper Chilli Pack.

Ive had it now around 5 months and its worrying me a tad, I paid nearly £8k for it (35k on clock, FSH) and it came with a 5 Star AA warranty (12 months)

So far its had a New Radiator, two front tyres, a new rear brake light bar. The passenger seat mechanism broke and isn't covered under warranty - tried every fix possible but reverted to welding the mechanism in place until I can afford a new seat.

Pausing for breath Ive now got some new problems:

First gear change after engine start is difficult and I have to lift clucth back up a little to get the gear to go in (normally reverse) reverse occasionally pops out of gear. Is this clutch / gearbox or just one of those things?

Ive noticed also around 50mph I can hear a wheel bearing type whirring from the rear RH wheel - is this tyre noise do you suspect or at 42k is it likely to be a wheel bearing?

Say I keep the car for the next 2 years - post 50K what should I expect, a clutch, gearbox or am I just being a tad paranoid?

Thanks in Advance

Ade

Hi,

Our reverse pops out all the time, and going into first gear often takes two attempts (lifting the clutch first) - I think this may be just one of those Mini things!

Also, our passenger seat is broken, and is fixed in the most upright position. We were told that they can't be mended - we would have to have the whole seat replaced.
